  • The sector of tourism in Colombia is concentrated in curative and aesthetic medicine. According to PTP goals (Productive Transformation Program) it is expected that by 2032 the country is able to catch at least 2,8 million in health tourists and in the same way generate at least USD$6,3 billion in revenues

  • Specialties such as ophthalmology, cardiology, reconstructive plastic surgery and orthopedic surgery are the most requested by international patients. Colombia is recognized as the first country in Latin America in provision of health services over countries such as Costa Rica, Brazil and Argentina thanks to the coordination of the different agents of World Health Organization (WHO). In 2014, more than 31.000 get moved with the purpose of obtaining medical attention

  • The PTP program has identified the group of great cities that comply with the integration chain of health services and international quality and Barranquilla belongs to this group. The city has approximately 1.000 companies dedicated to the health sector, including firms such as the Ophthalmological Center Carriazo and well-being centers like Genavie who are certified and trained to provide its services to international patients. Additionally, PortoAzul clinic started to operate in 2013, becoming in the first accredited Free Trade Zone in the Colombian Caribbean Coast
