The Atlantico department is the training center of the Colombian Caribbean Region.
It currently offers 17 higher education institutions of the highest quality. In the period 2001-2019, about 227,147 students graduated, representing 43.11% of the total graduates of the Region.
Bilingualism
- According to the English Proficiency Index 2018 of Education First, we are the territory with the highest level of English in both the city and department category, surpassing Antioquia, Valle del Cauca, and Bogotá D.C.
- At the level of local government, has a high commitment to make Barranquilla a 100% bilingual city through programs such as: "English for work" which aims to raise the English proficiency of a population of 1,500 people to B2 by 2023 so that they can apply to jobs in the service outsourcing sector (BPO).
